Fairmont San Francisco Gingerbread House

For more than a century, Fairmont San Francisco has enchanted guests with its joyful holiday festivities and exuberant seasonal ambiance.  Once again, the Fairmont elves are working overtime this season to create a hotel display like no other. Starting on November 28, 2015, the hotel lobby transforms into one of the world’s most beloved holiday destinations, where cherished memories for locals and visitors alike are created.  The highlight of this awe inspiring exhibit will be the two-story giant Gingerbread House in the hotel’s Grand lobby. Lovingly built with a completely edible exterior, this delectable abode will be unveiled during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the annual Gingerbread Open House on Saturday, November 28, which takes place from 11:00 am- 3:00 pm.  The event is open to the public and offers guests the opportunity to take pleasure in complimentary holiday refreshments and heart-warming music while Santa Claus, a Balloon Elf and a Christmas Fairy pose for photos.  Kids can also write letters to Saint Nick in the lobby’s “North Pole Nook” all season long (Fairmont guarantees speedy delivery to the North Pole).  Friends of Fido will delight in the pet-friendly hotel’s Gingerbread Doghouse, located right next to the North Pole Nook.

Fairmont San Francisco’s talented culinary team, led by Executive Chef Andrew Court and Executive Pastry Chef Kimberly Tighe, has meticulously planned for construction of this year’s enormous Gingerbread House, which will be equal in size to last year’s stunning, two-story-high Victorian.  Once complete, the house will stand more than 22 feet high and 23 feet wide and include thousands of home-baked gingerbread bricks and more than a ton of royal icing and candy décor.

During the Holidays, overnight guests of Fairmont San Francisco enjoy guaranteed access to the iconic two-story Gingerbread House and giant Christmas tree in the Lobby.

Due to popular demand, the gingerbread house’s railroad track has been extended, which will surely delight the many train-loving children who happily gaze upon this favorite feature.  More holiday characters and moving parts have also been added to increase the holiday magic!

Each year, the Gingerbread House takes center stage and fills the halls with its sweet aroma, but the property’s holiday trees are also impressive in their own right.  Once again, Fairmont San Francisco will feature a sparkling holiday tree of lights atop its Tower Building that will be visible throughout the city.  Guests can also enjoy the enchanting 23-foot-tall Christmas tree tickling the center of the ceiling in the Main Lobby and beautiful holiday decorations courtesy of Silk Peddlers.

In the spirit of the season, and as a part of Fairmont’s “Trees of Hope” campaign, a donation box benefitting Michael Franti’s “Do it for the Love” Foundation will be up next to the Gingerbread House and towering Main Lobby tree, which are on display November 28, 2015 through January 1, 2016.
