DOM PÉRIGNON LAUNCHES PRESS FOR DP AT THE SAVOY IN HONOUR OF MARLENE DIETRICH

Dom Pérignon will launch a world-first approach to room service at The Savoy in London on 1 June 2014.

Press for DP is an in-room communication system which allows guests to order champagne with ease and elegance at the touch of a button in their suite. Using the hotel’s telecom system, pressing the button sends a signal to your suite’s butler, initiating the delivery of a chilled bottle of Dom Pérignon.

The concept takes its inspiration from historic actress and singer Marlene Dietrich. The icon of the silver screen was a loyal guest of The Savoy and her registration card requested her suite be readied upon her arrival with 12 pink roses and a bottle of vintage Dom Pérignon on ice.

Press for DP will be unveiled in the Marlene Dietrich Suite and then introduced in selected Riverview Suites at The Savoy. The button itself, made from matte black anodised aluminium, contains a device that communicates in real-time using mobile phone networks and internet software. The signal from the button in the suite is converted into a recorded voice message immediately alerting the Savoy’s butler of the guests’ request for Dom Pérignon.

Joining the growing family of intelligent devices known as the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT), the technology uses the EVRYTHNG cloud platform to operate Press for DP. Launching exclusively at The Savoy the technology has the potential to transform how guests expect to order room service in luxury hospitality environments.
