CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW INSPIRED AFTERNOON TEA

London, April 2014 –As part of The Savoy’s 125th anniversary celebrations in 2014, the iconic hotel will be hosting a series of ‘Best of British’ events throughout the year, starting with a nod to Chelsea Flower Show and all things floral at The Savoy.

From 16 to 25 May 2014, a floral showcase will be located in the Upper Thames Foyer where The Savoy’s exceptional florists, headed up by floral designer Belinda Bowles, will create beautiful bouquets for guests to purchase alongside the exclusive Savoy Hotel Rose flowers and plants.

The Savoy Hotel Rose was created as part of The Savoy’s centenary celebrations in 1989 and unveiled at that year’s Chelsea Flower Show. A stunning hybrid tea rose with a pale pink flower and light fragrance, the Savoy Hotel Rose will also be on display in a dramatic centerpiece in the garden gazebo beneath the Edwardian glass dome of the Thames Foyer.

Guests booking afternoon tea during these dates will enjoy a Chelsea Flower Show inspired Champagne Afternoon Tea, created by Executive Pastry Chef, Ludwig Hely and featuring a collection of cakes inspired by The Savoy’s floral past. Patisserie will include Strawberry Savoy Rose Delicacies, Cherry Blossom Baskets, Hibiscus and Rhubarb Slicesand Lavender Éclairs. The tea will also include a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream, homemade lemon curd and strawberry preserve, and classic raspberry Victoria sponge and lemon poppy seed cake. 

The Savoy’s Chelsea Flower Show inspired Champagne Afternoon Tea is priced from £50 per person or £61.50 per person with a glass of Ruinart Rosé Champagne. 

Bouquets by The Savoy’s Floral Design team start at £30 and will be available to buy directly from the Upper Thames Foyer from 16 – 25 May 2014, or by contacting 020 7420 2458 / savoy.flowers@fairmont.com on all other occasions.
