London, April 13, 2014
Kate Atkinson to host Literary Lunch on Friday 2nd May 2014
with readings from Life after Life, winner of the Costa Novel Award 2013
The Savoy is delighted to welcome acclaimed author Kate Atkinson to host the next in the series of Literary Lunches in Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill. Lunch will begin at 12:30pm, and tickets are priced at £47, including a three-course meal with glass of prosecco. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Kate Atkinson during and after the lunch, who will welcome questions and sign copies both old and new.
Kate Atkinson won the Whitbread (now Costa) Book of the Year Prize with her first novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum, and has been a critically acclaimed international author ever since. Her most recent bestsellers featured the former private detective Jackson Brodie: Case Histories, One Good Turn, When Will There Be Good News? and Started Early, Took My Dog. She was appointed MBE in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Life After Life follows Ursula Todd as she lives through the turbulent events of the last century again and again while it marches on towards its second cataclysmic war. With wit and compassion, Kate Atkinson finds warmth even in life’s bleakest moments, and shows an extraordinary ability to evoke the past. Here is Atkinson at her most profound and inventive, playful and wise, in a novel that celebrates the best and worst of ourselves.
