From Western Massachusetts & Points South via Massachusetts Turnpike: - Follow Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) east to the Copley Square/Prudential Center exit 22 - Follow the Copley Square Exit and take your first left onto Dartmouth Street - Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston will be on your right.
From Points South via I-95 & I-93: - Follow I-95 North to I-93 North - Take exit 18 "Massachusetts Avenue/Roxbury" - Follow the arrows to Massachusetts Avenue and turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue - Off of Massachusetts Avenue, turn right onto Huntington Avenue - Follow Huntington Avenue to Dartmouth Street and turn left - Fairmont Copley Plaza is immediately on the right.
From Points North via I-95 or I-93: - Follow Route 93 South - Take exit 26 North Station/Storrow Drive - Follow Storrow Drive West to the Copley Square exit - Turn right onto Beacon Street and follow two blocks - Turn left onto Clarendon Street and follow five blocks - Turn right onto St. James Avenue - Fairmont Copley Plaza will be on your left.
From the MBTA Green Line: - Exit Copley Green Line Station at the corner of Dartmouth and Boylston Streets - Walk one block south on Dartmouth Street across Copley Square - Fairmont Copley Plaza is on the corner of Dartmouth Street and St. James Avenue, at 138 St. James Avenue.
From Back Bay Station / MBTA Orange Line and Amtrak: - Exit Back Bay Train Station on the Dartmouth Street side - Turn right onto Dartmouth Street - At the second set of lights turn right onto St. James Ave, the entrance to Fairmont Copley Plaza is on your right.

1910s
The Beginning
Fairmont Copley Plaza was built on the original site of the Museum of Fine Arts, which was in Copley Square from 1876 until 1909 when the museum moved into its existing building on Huntington Avenue. Dozens of horse-drawn carts took the museum’s collection of thousands of pieces of art approximately one mile down the street to the new museum.
Long regarded as a Boston institution, The Copley Plaza was formally opened on August 19, 1912, about 16 months after construction of the building began. Mayor of Boston John F. “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald, President John F. Kennedy’s grandfather, presided over a reception for more than 1,000 guests, including local and national dignitaries, civic leaders, captains of industry, and stage and movie stars. So prestigious was The Copley Plaza’s opening that rooms had been booked 16 months in advance.
1912 Innovator
The Fairmont Copley Plaza is recognized as an innovator in the hotel industry. The hotel is known for these industry firsts: the first completely air-conditioned hotel in Boston, the first hotel with an international reservations system, the first hotel anywhere to accept credit cards, and the first to offer direct telephone dialing for guests.

In making the reservation I discussed the needs for the trip with the person who took the reservation and was told they should be of no issue upon availability. When I signed up for the Fairmont rewards I was advised that I would be upgraded to the Fairmont floor upon availability. When checking in I was told it was under construction however could "get it" for $50 per person which increased to $75 per person when I told them I was told it would be complimentary. Also, I advised that we needed a late checkout due to the reason we were visiting at the time I made the reservation and once again was told it would not be an issue based on availability. The time discussed I was told would not be able to be accommodated. I felt as though many promises were made at booking and upon arrival, they were not able to be delivered. The person checking us in was training someone new and was borderline rude about it. I should have read the reviews prior to booking as it seems to be the theme with management asking the clients to reach out rather than addressing the issues with the front desk. I am a BONVOY member and am usually accommodated with late check outs. Since we had a set appointment I would have opted for a Bonvoy property had their been transparency about the inability to meet any of our needs. It's a true shame because the hotel is beautiful, and the location is amazing - but there is a Westin across the street which we will likely be staying at during our next visit.

Suite room was good, beautiful design in the lobby. Love it. Good location in downtown. There’s only 1 restaurant and it was packed. So had to dine out for 2 nights, and room dining for breakfast. We requested a microwave but they said unavailable. So had to give 8.

I've stayed at The Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston hotel a few times now and it is my default hotel in Boston. I like the location very much and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It's also a very good looking hotel. Rooms are starting to look a little tired though. The hotel could use more staff in the lobby area. When trying to make an enquiry or check in/check out, it took a long time to get served. I often had to reinitialise my room, key card as it often did not work. I like the gold lounge for breakfast and the evenings. It's a shame that we have to pay for any alcohol though. I understand this may be a law in the state, but the prices are too high.

I was in town for a wedding. Many of us stayed in the block created by the family. My room was small but well appointed and very clean. I was pleased with housekeeping for an issue with outlets and lights.

I have stayed at this Fairmont twice so far. Both times the rooms were beautiful and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I love that it's close to Newbury St, and the library. This time we went to an event at Fenway and it was completely walkable, even in the winter. The restaurant is good, although I wish there was a way to get some more varied late night snack food (until 11 or 12) as there is nothing close by to get a late bite to eat.
The room was very filthy. The vents were full of dust, stains on the curtains and chairs. My family and I have allergies and seeing all the dust on the vents was unacceptable. I travel a lot and have clients that fly into Boston of all the time and I will not recommend this hotel.
