The Riviera Maya is a region located in the southeast of Mexico along the coast of the Caribbean Sea.
The region of Riviera Maya is famous for its miles of soft beaches, Mayan ruins, and world-class scuba diving. For the adventurous, the recreational activities are endless such as scuba diving with electric rays among giant sponges and stony corals, ziplining over beautiful jungles, jetskiing miles across the Caribbean waters, and swimming with dolphins at Delphenus in Playa del Carmen. Visiting cenotes is another experience unique to this area. Cenotes are sinkholes filled with fresh water, typically found in caves that the Mayans believed were sacred places.

This was our 6th time visiting Fairmont Mayakoba and I think they are working out the kinks after the renovations and Covid. Some staffing issues but overall a fantastic trip. Beautiful place and lovely people.

Beautiful hotel good food... My shower head was broken on arrival and room was VERY humid. other than that, it was an amazing room also all the bridges were closed, very confusing and hard to navigate. not enough shuttles too
Most exceptional stay in Mexico I have ever had.
I asked for a room with a king bed, and received a room with two doubles. Our wall (which was paper thin) was shared with a couple with a screaming baby. I called the front desk right when we got to our room to ask to change rooms because the baby was so loud - was not given an option. That baby woke us up every day at 5am and its parents let it scream until 7am when they woke up. You would think the Fairmont staff would have been mindful of this situation and placed all of the families in one section and guests there without kids in another - to avoid this exact problem. I was very disappointed. Our room (301) also had a very musty smell to it, while my friends room did not.
The property is beautiful and well maintained. Rooms are well appointed, walkout to the beach was ideal.
An amazing resort full of natural beauty, friendly staff and great food...

Overall we loved our stay: the newly renovated property is gorgeous and we enjoyed good food at several restaurants throughout Mayakoba. We did experience some disorganization and confusion when it came to guest services. My friend tried to book a spot in a yoga class and was repeatedly given incorrect information. We also had a had time getting information by phone on how to access the cenote. Service at some of the Fairmount restaurants was slow. My room was charged to the wrong credit card.
Came for a week, post my recent retirement. After arriving late, due to plane issues, we finally arrived at reception where we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our room for $800 per night. We said no. Then, with much back and forth with her supervisor, the young woman asked us if we would pay $400/night to upgrade. We said that we were not prepared to pay more for our room, which had been already been paid for. We were quite tired and hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so asked to go to the restaurant while they were figuring out our room situation. During our dinner, a manager came and told us that there was a problem and our booked room was not available, so they were upgrading us to a suite. We were told to check with reception after dinner. After that rocky start, all was wonderful. We loved our room and the resort .

Wonderful and peaceful. The wait staff, the spa staff and waiters at the beach and pool were outstanding.
The resort was immaculate. Food was phenomenal (especially Bassano!). Service staff was the best we ever experienced at any resort.
