Decent stay, but food could use some attention
Stayed for three nights with my family of 5 (three kids, aged, 9,9,7). Beautiful setting, very cool historical building. Outdoor pools were awesome, and got a lot of use from my kids. We did a via ferrata trip, which was super fun. The room was sizeable, and had a nice view. The staff was mostly friendly & helpful, the concierge in particular was a very pleasant lady, and super helpful.
Many areas for improvement, perhaps needs some management changes, particularly around the on-site restaurants. The restaurants were very difficult to book, had limited kids menu options (the buffet was a full $62 for my 7 year-old daughter -- come on guys!), and was eye-watering-ly expensive, and I'm lucky enough to be in the 1% club. The wine list was clearly "curated" by someone with no knowledge of wine, it was full of typos and the prices made little sense (ask yourself why you may be selling so many half bottles). While I mentioned that the room was great (and it was), the double beds were a little weird (who sleeps on a double bed nowadays?). Coffee station in the lobby was empty one morning, and another morning was simply non-existent. Parking was really inconvenient, and why am I paying $12 to park in an outdoor lot overnight? Very clear that more effort and dollars have been invested in the casino, vs. the hotel, which is a little sad, given the history of this property.
Perhaps it was the photo of Trudeau and the G7 that really irked me the most. Overall, a nice stay, but not sure I would go back until the restaurant situation improved, markedly. There is so much to work with here, it feels like a shame it is operating far from its potential. Best of luck.
