Very nice place to spend a weekend in San Francisco.
First class hotel service outstanding
It has always been a dream to stay at the Fairmont. So, for our 18th anniversary, my wife and I were finally able to stay. Even though we had points at another chain we could’ve used, we chose to stay at the Fairmont. We also put in the request section that it was our 18th anniversary and we were first time guests, just so the hotel staff knew. And normally the hotel staff at other hotels acknowledge that and say something as simple as “Happy Anniversary.” Nope, no acknowledgement. And our bed in the exterior room we paid for looked at a wall every morning we woke up. Hardly romantic. So, maybe they recognize other people. Maybe they recognize celebrities. But they don’t make the regular folk on anniversaries who visit for their first time feel welcome. I have much better service at the Hyatt. And I’ll definitely look into other hotels the next time we’re in San Francisco.
The room was large and filled with all that was needed. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff always smiling and prompt to help.
Always nice. Staff friendly, and attentive
I arrived late 11:00 pm and was greeted by pleasant but otherwise unhelpful staff. I had to ask how to find my room and was not given any information about wifi, restaurant or hotel amenities. I reserved a suite which was dusty. For the price of the room I expected a vanity kit and stocked mini bar and was greeted by neither and of course the restaurant was closed. For a 750sf suite the majority of it was a useless living room with a full sized dining table that I didn’t need. What I could have used was a bottle opener and wine glasses. I’d recommend renovating for a bigger bathroom and amenities. I paid the same price for the peninsula in chicago and had a massive bathroom with heated floors and all the extras. I paid half the price for a suite at the SF Omni which was smaller but provided some amenities and superior service. The Fairmont felt tired and no one I encountered made any effort to provide service. I will not be returning.
We were told we had a view room but it was on the second floor and interior to other rooms. Not a view.

I came into San Francisco for one night and wanted to treat myself. The first room I purchased was a standard room with a king size bed. I decided to upgrade myself to a suite with a balcony. THis is due to currently celebrating the new me in 2023:) The hotel upgraded me with no issues and the room had a gorgeous view and plenty of space! When I returned back to the hotel that evening after shopping and dinner, I wanted to get a snack and drink out of the fridge in the room. The entire fridge was completely empty?! This had not been disclosed to me when I purchased the room. Needless to say, It was a disappointment. When paying $900 for a room I expect the amenities to go above and beyond. I did call the front desk and they brought me a coke to have hoping they would give me the room at a discounted price for this mistake, but the offer never came up that night or the next morning uptown checkout.
