For a true local's perspective on Whistler's best destinations and activities, join our daily outings led by Fairmont's Whistler Experience Guide. Ryan and his team will be your hosts for mountain adventures, skiing, snowshoeing, outdoor skating, Whistler Village tours and more 'off-the-tourist' track activities that capture the true essence of Whistler.  
  • Guided excursions are included for all registered Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel guests. 
  • Suitable for all experience levels. 
  • Activities vary day to day. 
  • Typically 3 options per day are available. 
  • Daily activities are confirmed 48-72 hours in advance.  

Current outings and complete details are available in the Hotel Lobby, in the Health Club, in your Daily Hotel Newsletter and are always available for in-house guests by dialing '0' for Royal Service.  

Winter Whistler Experience Guide activities are available from late November through April, are subject to change and may be weather dependent. Pre-registration at the Concierge Desk is required for most activities and is available up to 48 hours in advance.  

WINTER WHISTLER EXPERIENCE GUIDE ACTIVITIES   

SNOWSHOE TOUR | 1 to 3 hours 

Lost Lake Snowshoe Tour | 2hrs   

Get away from it all with a guided snow shoe tour around Lost Lake. Trek along coastal rainforest to unique viewpoints of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.   Adults- $11.00  Children- $6.60    

Train Wreck Hike/Snowshoe | 2.5hrs*    

Enjoy a casual snowshoe along the glacier-fed Cheakamus River to the remains of a train derailment from the 1950’s. Along the way there are several vantage points along the river with spectacular views and photo opportunities. At the wreck there are 5 train cars scattered along the forest floor with massive Coastal evergreen trees that have grown around them. Some local artists have decorated the cars with amazing graffiti work.Additional fees apply.  

Rainbow Falls Hike/Snowshoe | 2.5hrs*    

Enjoy a beautiful snowshoe that ascends through the forest along 21 mile creek to the beautiful Rainbow Falls. We will be stopping at scenic points along the way. Moderate fitness level required. Please dress for the weather, appropriate foot wear is required. Additional fees apply.

OUTDOOR SKATING | 1.5 hours 

It doesn’t get more Canadian than skating outdoors! Glide along skating paths at Whistler Olympic Plaza beneath the twinkle of lights and glowing Olympic rings or if the lakes are frozen skating will take place in the great outdoors on Lost Lake.  Adults- $8 Children- $5   

OTHER ACTIVITIES | from 1 - 3 hours 

Rain or shine, there is always plenty to explore in Whistler. Whether it's learning something new or visiting one of our favourite Whistler attractions, you can expect to have a fun filled day! Activities will include:  

  • Olympic Venues Tour (3 hours) 
  • Visit the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in Whistler 
  • Brewery Tour (2.5 hours) | Must be 19+ years of age 
  • Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre (1.5 hours) | Families welcome 
  • Whistler Museum Tour (1.5 hours) | Families welcome 
  • Secrets of the Chateau (1 hour) | Families welcome  

WHISTLER EXPERIENCE GUIDE DOG 

Alta is a black Labrador, and arguably the most popular team member of Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Her days are spent exploring scenic trails with our Whistler Experience Guides and adventure-seeking guests. During her down time Alta can be found roaming The Chateau, greeting guests and colleagues alike. Alta was trained by Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, and is proudly owned by Executive Chef Isabel Chung.
