Winter in Banff National Park has plenty to offer, especially for non-skiers. Cross Country Skiing
Depart from our doorstep, breath in the crisp mountain air while out on the trail. Cross country skiing provides a peaceful and refreshing outdoor experience. Equpiment rental available at the Banff Springs Ski Shop.
Skating & Tobogganing
An outdoor skating experience is available on the Waldhaus Rink with the beauty of our winter wonderland surrounding you. Enjoy the thrill of sledding down our toboggan hill, located beside the rink by the river. Rental equipment is available on property at Banff Springs Ski Shop.
This winter, try out a classic winter game on our two sheets of curling ice located on the Bow Valley Terrace.
Interpretive guides lead you through the Rockies in Canadian back country fashion – on snowshoes. Discover how to follow animal tracks or learn how wildlife adapts to the cold. Guided half day excursions are available with advance reservations, or, snowshoe rentals are available for use on your own. Equpiment rental available at the Banff Springs Ski Shop.

HD Golf Simulator
Don't put those golf clubs away yet, the HD Golf Simulator is back for another season, visit the Bowling and Entertainment Centre to book your tee time.

Sight Seeing Drives & Tours
Banff National Park and the surrounding Mountain Parks offer the most incredible scenery in the world. Drive to frozen lakes, glaciers, snow covered mountains, past rushing rivers; with each turn that you make you will be awestruck by the beauty that surrounds you. Discover a spectacular view of the Rockies from the best seats in the house. Enjoy an eight-minute ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, with a panoramic view of Banff and the Bow Valley waiting for you at the top. Located at the summit you will find an observation area, the panoramic Summit Restaurant and a gift shop. Gondolas depart every couple of minutes throughout the day.
Canyon Ice Walk
Join an interpretive guide to get up close and personal to this mysterious frozen world. This excursion proceeds along the bottom of the canyon, past the Lower Falls, and over suspended catwalks to the Twin Pools and Upper Falls.
A team of eager sled dogs leads a picturesque trip on traditional dogsleds and is a once-in-a-lifetime experience not to be missed. Dog sledding companies offer a variety of excursions including half hour, half day, full day and moonlight tours.
Snow Tube Park
Ever flown down a snow-covered hill with the wind rushing through your hair and looked down to see an inflated tube? If not, you should try it. The Norquay snow tube park, is the only one of its kind in the Banff area, it has a snow tube rope tow and large sliding lanes to go down along with your group of friends or your family.
Dash through the snow in a horse-drawn carriage – a winter wonderland must! Enjoy a sleigh ride through fluffy, snow packed pastures by the Warner Stables. Rides last approximately 45 minutes with advance reservations required.
Cruise along Rocky Mountain trails in Golden, British Columbia, located 1.5 hours from The Fairmont Banff Springs. There are a variety of guided tours that include transportation to and from the hotel. Snowmobiling offers another option to access our pristine mountain wilderness.
Ice fishing is offered December through April and is located on the beautiful Spray Lakes. Relax in heated huts on the ice, fish for lake trout and white fish, then cook your catch on-site.
