East Maui Taro Festival Celebrates Hawaiian Sacred Staple Food
The East Maui Taro Festival returns to "Heavenly Hāna" on April 25. This lively (and free) event takes place at the Hāna Ballpark adjacent to Travaasa Hāna Resort. The festival celebrates taro, a staple of the Hawaiian diet, and features a farmers market, poi pounding, food booths, arts and crafts, live music, and hula. A taro pancake breakfast at Hāna Bay and tours of local farms are offered the day after the festival, giving attendees a glimpse into Hāna's rich agricultural scene.
