Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Wins Best Catered Event by a Hotel at the Special Events Gala Awards

Montréal, Québec, Canada, January 15, 2014

Special Events magazine honored the best work in special events by naming the winners of its annual Gala Awards competition.

Event professionals gathered in Nashville, Tennessee, USA on January 10 to select the winners among nominees from Malaysia, India, Russia, Israel, Germany, Canada, China, Ireland, Singapore and USA.  These awards, handed out since 1986, are the oldest, most prestigious distinctions in the special events industry.

For the second year in a row, the outside catering service of Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in Montreal – RE Le Traiteur – won the prize for Best Catered Event Produced By A Hotel Banquet Department for the Daffodil Ball, the most successful cancer-related fundraising gala in Canada. The Ball also won for Best Decor: Total Decor Budget $100,000 To $250,000 (Decor & More and Alison Silcoff Events).

On April 18, 2013, 700 guests enjoyed the dazzling Daffodil Ball, combining red-carpet treatment, spectacular decor and extraordinary cuisine. In a festive ambiance capturing the life-style of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby, the talented catering team embraced the theme of the Roaring Twenties, working diligently to create a menu that was as aesthetically amazing as it was delectable. Classics of the era such as Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Newburg and Baked Alaska were cleverly reinvented with a modern twist that left everyone impressed.

“We were thrilled to work once again with Alison Silcoff who excels in creating memorable grand events,” mentioned Armando Arruda, Director, Outside Catering service, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. “Our kitchen brigade, under the guidance of chef Marc Lintanf, prepared an expertly-crafted haute cuisine four-course menu that required true craftsmanship”.

RE Le Traiteur was also in nomination for Best Off-Site Catered Event for the Gala of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal 2013.
