Artist in Residence Program

Fairmont Vancouver Airport is pleased to announce the launch of our artist-in-residence program featuring celebrated Canadian artists. Current works include pieces from the Douglas Reynolds Gallery by acclaimed artists Bradley Hunt, Robert Davidson and Rande Cook.  Works can be found throughout the hotel’s entrance, lobby and restaurant spaces.

Rande Cook Art

Rande Cook Art

Rande Cook, born in 1977 in Alert Bay, is an artist of Kwakwaka’wakw heritage and is a member of the ‘Namgis First Nation. Early on, his grandfather, Gus Matilpi, taught him the essential elements of art and impressed upon him how art both reflects and connects culture. The ‘Killer Whale Panel’ is hand carved red cedar with a copper inlay. On the Northwest Coast the Killer Whale, also referred to as blackfish, is an important crest figure among local First Nations groups.
