    Why you'll love it

    A love letter to Canada

During his stay in 1929, Sir Winston Churchill wrote a heartfelt letter to his wife, Clementine, expressing his fondness for Edmonton and Canada as a whole. It is well known that during his railway travel across the country in the summer of 1929, Churchill was so captivated by the Canadian prairies that while still in Alberta, he wrote another letter to Clementine, musing over the idea of retiring from politics to settle in Western Canada. While he never did, Churchill continued to visit for years to come.
