Nestled on its own private quay between Cape Town's bustling V&A Waterfront and the tranquil yacht marina, Cape Grace has stood as a symbol of gracious hospitality for three decades. Since opening its doors in 1996, the hotel has become more than a place to stay—it has become part of the city's story. In the beginning

Cape Grace's story began in 1994 with a bold vision: to create a hotel that would embody the warmth, character and enduring spirit of Cape Town. Two years later, in 1996, that vision became reality as Cape Grace opened its doors on a private quay at the V&A Waterfront. Designed to feel less like a hotel and more like a gracious Cape residence, it quickly became renowned for its timeless elegance, genuine hospitality and unmistakable sense of place.

A new chapter

In April 2024, following its transition into the Fairmont portfolio, Cape Grace unveiled an extensive eight-month refashioning that marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Thoughtfully designed to honour the hotel's rich heritage while embracing Fairmont's timeless elegance and world-renowned standards of hospitality, every detail was carefully reimagined. The result is a seamless blend of the Cape Grace guests have cherished for decades with a renewed sense of luxury, ensuring its legacy continues for generations to come.
