sustainable Responsibility
At Fairmont Château Laurier, responsible hospitality is an integral part of how we welcome our guests and care for our surroundings. Proudly recognized with 4 Green Keys certification, we are committed to thoughtful practices that reduce our environmental impact, support our local community and help preserve the natural beauty of Ottawa.
Community Driven Food Waste Reduction
Through the À la Carte Food Recovery Program, an initiative by Ottawa Tourism and La Tablée des Chefs, surplus prepared food from our kitchens is redirected to local organizations supporting individuals and families in need. Since 2024, the program has helped recover and redistribute more than 500,000 meals across Ottawa through the collective efforts of participating hospitality partners.
Our sustainable engagements
Our rooftop hives, together with those across the street at the Senate of Canada, produce approximately 150 pounds of honey annually. This honey is featured in select dishes across our menus and in our Royal Reserve collection, available at Café Laurier.
Since 2022, Fairmont Château Laurier has eliminated or replaced guest-facing single-use plastic items with alternatives to help reduce waste.
For guests travelling by electric vehicle, two complimentary charging stations are available for vehicles using our valet parking service.
Responsible Hospitality
We believe exceptional hospitality and responsible operations go hand in hand.
A TEAM COMMITMENT
Our colleagues play an essential role in bringing our sustainability initiatives to life. Through our monthly Sustainability Committee, team members from across the hotel collaborate to identify opportunities, share ideas and support initiatives that benefit our operations and community. From food waste awareness to community cleanups and more considered event practices, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to continuous improvement.
GUESTS
As our guest, you can make a meaningful difference during your stay. We invite you to participate in our green initiatives by reducing energy and water use, recycling, and choosing environmentally friendly options where possible.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Exceptional dining begins with exceptional ingredients. Across Fairmont Château Laurier's restaurants and culinary experiences, our menus celebrate seasonal flavours, thoughtfully selected ingredients and plant-forward choices.
Land Acknowledgement
