It took 50 teams of horses and 200 men working together for a year in order to clear the land of boulders and debris to prepare it for what would become one of Canada's premiere golf courses. Since the opening of the mountain golf course in 1925, this jewel set deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies has been the setting of unforgettable memories for all of those who come to play.
Few golf courses in the world can match the rugged majesty of this national treasure, rated Canada's #1 Golf Resort for the past 20 years by SCOREGolf Magazine.

First thing was that rooms were not ready. Secondly parking is an issue if you have a car. Thirdly no a/c and it was 90 plus during the day. Even with doors and windows open it was miserable. People and staff are friendly and nice. Staff seems like new or summer interns. They tried to appease us with reimbursing the experience fee. But for the price overall experience falls short of satisfactory.

Despite having many great features in terms of location and facilities, the level of service and functioning features could have been better. Check in happened at 6pm on an extremely hot day even though we had completed the online check in early in the day to advise of our arrival time. We found the room boiling as the curtains had been left open to full sun without any air conditioning working in the room, though it looked like there was a unit there to cool and heat with a thermostat on the wall. With only a ceiling fan to cool us, we left both doors open overnight so that the screen doors allowed air through from front to back. Our safety deposit box batteries needed replacing to work, but this was done very promptly. The room was clean and the bathroom of a good standard. The bed and bedding was also very comfortable. The restaurant service was OK, though we did have to ask to be served drinks in the meat buffet despite three staff being there and only a few tables being serviced when we arrived for the latest booking we could get following a long day out. The quality of the food was only just OK in there and the main hall and certainly not of the standard expected for the venue or the price, though portions in the main hall were large. It was also unfortunate that we couldn't eat in the Italian restaurant as it was closed on the only evening we could have eaten there during our stay. The outdoor pool wasn't really usable as it was quite small and used mainly by children, but at least we could usually find somewhere quiet to sit by the lake, despite the number of weddings taking place when we arrived. We enjoyed the planetarium experience with telescope viewing, which was nice to have on site. The spa treatment was also of high quality and compared favourably on prices elsewhere. As is the same everywhere, the management was clearly conscious of being under-staffed, but good training can still take place so that the staff do know what high quality looks and feels like - more difficult with a lot of transient and temporary staff who aren't invested in the business, but possible. This particular Fairmont has so much potential, it could certainly be improved upon on so many levels to match the natural surroundings. Finally, none of our ALL Accor points were credited for the stay, even though I had made a point of providing these on booking through our U. agent.
Late check in at 4pm becomes 6:30 for one of our rooms. Short of staff is not my issue it is yours. We thought we were having close proximity to all the rooms turned into walking distance. It appeared the reservation folks don’t have good understanding of close proximity.
One of a kind experience, great place, good service.

We stayed in room 500 on July 27th, and we had to endure an extremely annoying wheezing sound that lasted throughtout the stay. There were breif interruptions only for this sound to come back. I resounded up until midnight or so and it went on again early in the morning. It resounded throught out the evening too. We had only one night and, despite the awesiome beautiful landscape, our stay was a totla flop. I tried to talk to the people at the front desk about this, but they said that someone took a look at the pump under the cabin and that someone would be back at 7 a.m. This was unacceptabe. The second person offered a $100 discount on a room that we paid $1400 for a one-night stay... during which we heard the annoying sound for more than 80 % of it. We feel robbed of our money.
No AC in room. Install stand up AC units and exhaust through wall.

The lodge was located on a fantastic natural site, with beautiful surroundings. There was however much left to be desired with respect to the quality of service on-site, with insufficient manpower to carry out daily cleans, untrained waiters/waitresses (who also burnt me with a hot pan). Given the very premium price, I frankly expected more.
My last minute online reservation caused some issue at check-in, but Hamza and the team were able to get us our room and honor the reservation with a better rate and complimentary drinks while we waited
