The world's largest log cabin
For 40 years after its completion in 1930, the log château was the private retreat of the Seigniory Club, whose elite membership included reputed Canadian businessmen and politicians such as former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, and foreign dignitaries such as Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco.
When the world's leaders were looking for a place to meet, they chose us. In 1981, Le Château Montebello played host to the international Summit Conference housing seven of the most powerful leaders of the industrialized world. Rt. Hon. Pierre Trudeau chaired this meeting as the eyes of the world looked on.

Lovely hotel. Great staff & location. Loved the trails and photo opportunities. Great pools, plenty of activities. Good food. Unfortunately the bbq was cancelled due to rain and our only negative experience was at checkout.
We always stay at the Fairmont for our travels. We've been to Montebello many times (we come every July). It is always a great experience. This year in particular was exceptional. Sven - the reservations manager was first class. He ensured our stay was absolutely perfect. A true gentleman who understands customer service. We had a fantastic stay and look forward to returning every summer.

My husband and I love going to the Fairmont Hotels, but the Montebello Fairmont should not be in the Fairmont family. It desperately needs a lot of attention on the inside, it was perhaps once a beautiful hotel but unfortunately it no longer is. Not worth the money we spend there. My supper was tasteless and not appealing at all nor was out breakfast buffet the next morning. I can’t say anything negative about the staff they were all very nice and very helpful always with big smiles on their faces. I’m not one to ever write negative reviews but I need to say that this stay was not one I truly enjoyed. I asked for a room that was remodelled and I’m truly happy I did, my room was very nice compared to that of our friends that stayed in the old section of the hotel. The main area of the hotel as you enter has a very old and not appealing smell, it unfortunately feels like entering a very dark and musty dungeon. As I mentioned above this hotel needs a lot of TLC (tender loving care). I will not return.
As usual, it was a great experience. It is unfortunate that it is taking so long to finalize the repairs and re opening of the Salon Bar as it provides another venue other than the main dining room.

Good day, I’m a loyal customer for many years with my family and even as a child with my parents. Le Château was a true tradition and I wanted to make sure it stayed alive with my son. This said, during our last visit, we felt a difference in the air in regards to the atmosphere, service and food quality. Evening supper aux Chantignoles was tasteless for all 3 of us and the buffet breakfast at the place was nothing as usual in regards to choices and on the spot made food. In the evening, tradition is family games with a drink and coffee, no service going around to as if we needed or wanted anything… same thing at the outdoor pool… never once did someone approach us to ask if we wanted anything. Prices reminded the same if not raised but the experience was definitely different and deceiving for the 1st time in many many years… puts a doubt in mind about returning.
The overall experience was very disappointing. So many details were over looked which a shock at a Fairmont property. The room was very outdated but beyond that the beds were very old and the bedskirt was sagging on one side of the bed, the curtains were hanging crooked over the window, the hairdryer barely worked and looked like it was 30 yrs+ old, the carpet in room was loose and rippled, the wall paper in the bathroom was ripped and the bath robe had a hole in the arm. The most shocking was the state of the outdoor pool. We arrived to find: - 50% of chairs with used towels on them - cups/straws and fruit from drinks all around pool deck - the tables all seemed to have drink residue with wasps buzzing - the pool water level was below the first step and very cloudy -there was a black rim of scum marking where the water level should have been filled to - the garbage containers were over flowing - the dirty towel hamper was rolled into the grass filled with a mountain of dirty towels whatever didn’t fit was thrown in the grass - horrible sounding speakers blasting inappropriate/obnoxious music We have never seen a pool in this state at any hotel let alone a fairmont! We have young kids and went to bed early only to have someone knocking on our door after 9 pm to offer us water?!? We were to spend two nights at the hotel to relax and ended up leaving a day early not wanting to spend any more time at the Montebello. We have never checked out a hotel early This hotel has so much potential and the staff were friendly unfortunately we left early and were very disappointed.
