Roof Top Herb Garden

From Rooftop to Fork: Our Very Own Herb Garden

Planted in 1995, our charming rooftop garden and apiary became one of the first green roofs in downtown Vancouver. Our 2,100 sq foot garden produces over twenty varieties of herbs, vegetables, fruits and edible blossoms, which guests can enjoy in Chef Suri’s culinary masterpieces.

Bee Butler

Our Honey Bees and their Butler

Our third floor terrace is buzzing with action – four beehives and over 250,000 honeybees. Guests are invited to join the daily summer apiary tours with our very own ‘Bee Butler’ or a member of his Bee Team and see why it’s more important than ever to give bees a chance.

Moving on up - We've upgraded our mason bee house to a full-fledged pollinator hotel in our rooftop garden - the 'Bee and Bee' provides habitat for the hundreds of species of solitary bees (our super pollinators) native to British Columbia.

Hives for Humanity

2014 has brought mason bees to the hotel’s garden in an exciting partnership with Hives for Humanity. As part of the inspiring Pollinator Corridor Project, we engage with the community and build bee populations by providing new habitats in Vancouver green spaces.


Want Your Next Meeting to be Eco-Friendly?

Our Eco-Meet Program invites event planners to minimize the ecological footprint of their meetings. Options include local and organic menus, disposable-free service, and carbon-neutral, eco-friendly hotel options. Event planners can request that food leftovers be donated to a local charity.

Zero Waste

Zero Waste

Fairmont Waterfront has reached zero waste status as defined by RecycleSmart! To be considered zero waste the hotel was required to divert 90% of its potential ‘waste’ from landfills for at least three consecutive months. RecycleSmart continues to work closely with the hotel to track, monitor and assist in maintaining this diversion rate.
