A stunning hotel with everything you would want for a couple of days getaway. Staff were very friendly, informative and courteous. I would have liked a makeup mirror in the ensuite but that’s a minor problem.

The hotel itself is stunning, the upgraded rooms and the pool facilities excellent. The food at breakfast was delicious. The staff were all very pleasant and professional. The food at dinner was below par and incredibly overpriced

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Carton House, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent.
My wife and I stayed for one night for her birthday and the staff at Carton house went well out of their way to make it a memorable experience. The food was incredible, cocktails were perfect and the service was over and above. We had a slight slip up on the restaurant booking but the red haired lady who I believe was the manager of the carriage bar really went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after. We also managed to get a quick whiskey tasting at the whiskey library to top it off and that really made our whole experience even better. The tall gentleman who gave us a tour was an expert in fine whiskeys and we learned so much by talking to him. The spa staff were delightful and really did a great job on the massage package. The hotel grounds are so beautiful, modern and well looked after. Not one thing I could point out wrong about this place, I've been to many 5 star luxury hotel resorts in Ireland and this is by far the best in the country.

Booked a room at a good rate. Asked if we wanted to book our time slot for breakfast so booked in. Phoned on the day of arrival before travelling to the hotel for dinner; all restaurants fully booked. That was fine; we ate on the way. Received email confirming the breakfast in the Kitchen. I phoned back assuming there was an error as we ate in the Morrison Room on previous occasions and it was the reason for repeat return visits. Apparently packages changed. I embraced it assuming the experience was a bit more rustic but same quality of breakfast. Breakfast was absolutely chaotic. We were not alone; everyone around us talking and frustrated. Got a table. No basics on table; salt/pepper, cutlery knife totally bent. Asked four times for tea/coffee and the poor servant seemed to have to wait for it to arrive. Tea arrived and it was a sloppy cup with a teabag in it! Not even a 4star would present it like this. Waited so long for breakfast but it was much worse for bigger group beside us. Asked for more tea(as did the table beside us) when breakfast eventually arrived. Ate breakfast and asked table beside us for condiments as we could not get attention from staff. They were totally overwhelmed as it appeared that breakfast and tea was being brought from a different location in hotel. Still no tea and drank my husband's glass of water. Did not bother asking again for the tea. On check out the girl did not seem alarmed and apologised immediately. I was only giving constructive criticism as I was gutted and would not be inclined to return. The whole experience for us was the breakfast and I would not recommend it again. She said that if we paid extra for the house experience, it was included. I loved wandering through the old house after breakfast on other occasions as I love this era and it was restricted access to this section on this visit. Previous visits to this hotel were magical. Management needs to reflect on the rationale to these changes. Another observation that is only pedantic really and only saying it as it was a five star establishment; coasters should be used under glasses. If spillage occurs on the glass while bar staff pouring drinks it should be wiped to avoid spillage on clothing. It is a beautiful clean hotel and the staff were lovely. The setting is idyllic. Loved the gentleman(porter) at the door. Great for front of house.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the warmth of Irish Hospitality, most notably by the concierge "Locke" (Forgive my misspelling) he is a true hotelier always anticipating our needs. We had a fabulous evening in the Carriage house - I believe it was Emma who took care of us wonderfully. Breakfast each morning was scrumptious with thats to Eunice who was so charming and caring to our large family. Dinner in KK was a true indulgence as Vincent, Finn and the team made us feel like Royalty. Our family weekend was then complete by the gracious and kind hospitality of Shane and Ciaran in the Golf Club - two of the very best.
Overall good but some aspects of the accommodation, organisation and service could be improved. The room was very comfortable, however the shower is small and we had a problem with our door keys and the safe jammed. We dined in Kathryn’s kitchen on the Saturday night for a family celebration both good and service were excellent. Breakfast however was a disappointment, we were all seated outside the kitchen on low sofas with coffee tables to eat off. Staff had to squeeze between the tables to serve us and having booked for 9.30 didn’t get food or drink for over 40 minutes and the whole service took over 90 minutes!! I suggest management look at arrangements for breakfast service when the kitchen is full and there are other dining rooms available.

Hotel is beautiful & the grounds are stunning. Our room was fantastic & the staff upon greeting outside to check in were brilliant. Staff throughout the hotel were fab but the service was poor. Drink service very slow. We had to ask for everything twice. Waited 50 minutes for one round. Service in Kathleen’s kitchen slow also. Food was good, not great. Such a shame because staff are so lovely.
