Frequently asked questions

Yes. Complimentary ski shuttle service connects Fairmont Banff Springs with Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt. Norquay throughout the ski season. Service is available to guests with an eligible SkiBig3 lift ticket or participating pass, including Ikon, Mountain Collective and SkiBig3 season passes. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and reservations are generally not required. Schedules and departure times vary by resort and may change throughout the season, so guests should consult the Hotel Concierge or current SkiBig3 schedule before travelling.

There is no single minimum age that applies to every skier across all three Banff resorts. Children are welcome on the slopes, but parents and guardians should select terrain appropriate for their child’s ability, comfort and experience. Age requirements vary for lift tickets, childcare, group lessons and ski-school programs at Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt. Norquay. Young or first-time skiers will benefit from professional instruction in a dedicated learning area before attempting more challenging terrain. Families should review the individual resort’s age requirements and lesson options in advance, as children may need to be accompanied by an adult on certain lifts or runs.

Advance purchase is not always required, but it is strongly recommended—particularly during weekends, holidays and other high-demand periods. Booking ahead can provide access to better online pricing, help secure your preferred ski dates and reduce the time spent arranging tickets after arrival. A SkiBig3 lift ticket provides access to Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mt. Norquay, along with complimentary ski shuttle service and other benefits. When eligible tickets are purchased at least three days before arrival, they may also be delivered to participating Banff hotels for collection at check-in. Guests should review current rates, conditions and delivery timelines when booking. Explore SkiBig3 lift tickets

Non-skiers can experience plenty of winter magic at Fairmont Banff Springs. Explore snow-covered trails, unwind with a treatment at Fairmont Spa, relax in the heated outdoor pool or enjoy bowling at Bowl Valley. Guests can also discover the Castle’s restaurants and bars, experience Afternoon Tea, explore the town of Banff or participate in seasonal resort activities. Availability varies by date and weather conditions.

All three Banff ski resorts offer lessons and beginner terrain. Mt. Norquay is particularly well suited to first-time skiers because of its dedicated learning programs, approachable terrain and convenient location near Banff. Lake Louise is an excellent choice for beginners ready to explore a larger mountain, with a dedicated learning area and green runs accessible from nearly every lift. Banff Sunshine also offers beginner lessons and gentle green runs. SkiBig3 beginner guide
