1899

The original Manoir opened its doors commissioned by the Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company and brought to life by renowned architect Edward Maxwell. Designed as a grand retreat for travelers arriving by steamship along the St. Lawrence River, the Manor quickly became a symbol of refined hospitality and the gateway to the majestic Charlevoix region.

1925

The Manor’s golf course was officially inaugurated in the presence of former U.S. President William Howard Taft and celebrated landscape architect Herbert Strong. This milestone marked the beginning of a prestigious sporting tradition at the Manoir, blending world-class design with the breathtaking natural beauty of Charlevoix.

1928–1929

On September 12, 1928, the hotel was tragically destroyed by a devastating fire. Rising from the ashes, it was rebuilt under the direction of architect John Archibald and proudly reopened on June 15, 1929. This swift and ambitious reconstruction marked a new chapter in the Manor’s history, preserving its legacy while ushering in a renewed era of elegance.

2018

This historic event highlighted the property’s prestige, its exceptional setting, and its capacity to host moments of international significance.
