Our sustainable engagements

Controlling and reducing energy consumption has been a priority at Fairmont Monte Carlo since its construction, notably through the installation of thalassothermal equipment. Today, the hotel shares its systems with the Monte-Carlo district, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the entire Principality.

Waste sorting and reduction are key priorities for effective environmental management. Fairmont Monte Carlo organizes selective waste collection in partnership with local institutions, including the collection of cooking oils and sensitive waste. Raising awareness among guests and staff is one of the cornerstones of this initiative.

Reducing food waste is part of our efforts to raise awareness among guests and guide the practices implemented by our teams. The Orbisk system provides automated monitoring of kitchen and waste management, promoting awareness and delivering measurable reductions.

At Fairmont Monte Carlo, sustainability also means supporting the local community. We participate year-round in charitable initiatives with our Fairmont and Monegasque partners, including Make-A-Wish, Children for the Future, Events for Heritage, and Slow Food, demonstrating a constant commitment to meaningful impact.

Marine Energy at Fairmont Monte Carlo

At Fairmont Monte Carlo, the Seawergie program harnesses the natural temperature of the sea to heat and cool the hotel through thalassothermal loops.

 

This innovative marine renewable energy system significantly reduces the hotel’s environmental impact, cutting over 2,000 tons of CO₂ annually in the Principality, while ensuring year-round comfort for our guests.

Responsible Resource Management

At Fairmont Monte Carlo, sustainability is integrated into daily operations. We optimize water and energy consumption, reduce waste, and prioritize recycling across the property to lower our carbon footprint. We also encourage our guests to take part in this commitment by measuring and understanding the environmental impact of their stay through our carbon footprint calculator.
