Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is growing its boreal forest!
In order to improve the environmental sustainability of our daily operations, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is launching a cutting-edge program that will greatly improve its effect on the environment, in partnership with La Forêt Montmorency, the research and teaching forest of Laval University:
We plant a tree in the name of each guest
who forgoes the daily cleaning of their room!
Guests will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment while foregoing the daily servicing of their room. To thank these eco-conscious guests for their consideration of the environment we will be planting one tree per night in their name in the Montmorency forest. With this new initiative we hope to plant thousands of trees so that we can reduce our footprint all while supporting the carbon neutrality of Laval University’s campus. Year after year, the forest will grow in the name of Fairmont Le Château Frontenac and its guests. It will even be possible for our guests to contribute by buying trees and visiting our forest while enjoying all that the Montmorency forest has to offer.
Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is the first hotel in Quebec and one of the first in Canada to launch this sort of initiative! In addition to being “green key” certified by the Hotel Association of Canada, the hotel also takes part in Fairmont’s brand wide green initiative which reaches new heights with Fairmont le Château Frontenac’s new program.
How it works
Guests staying two days or more may notify our staff upon check-in that they decline the daily housekeeping visits. By reusing sheets and towels, guests will be reducing water and energy consumption as well as the use of cleaning products. A certificate of commitment will be delivered upon check-out, attesting the number of trees planted in the name of the guest.
