Fairmont Le Montreux Palace utilizes an innovative air-conditioning system that uses the cold waters the lake. By pumping water at 80 meters deep and distributing it throughout the hotel, we reduce electricity consumption by over 60%, saving 340,000 kWh annually. After cooling our spaces, the water is returned to the lake as clean as it was.

Our sustainable engagements
We use Orbisk, an AI system, to track and reduce food waste with real-time data for our chefs. Our BioMaster system converts kitchen waste into biogas, and leftover meals from Montreux Jazz Café are available via the Too Good To Go app.
Since 2023, we have removed all single-use plastics from the customer journey, replacing items like straws and stirrers with biodegradable or reusable alternatives. In-room toiletries now use large dispensers to avoid waste from single-use bottles.
In guest rooms, we enhance sustainability by using energy-efficient LED lighting, smart blinds, and water-saving fixtures. Our cooling system utilizes Lake Geneva's water, reducing electricity use by 60%.
We sponsor beehives in the Montreux hills to boost local biodiversity. The organic honey produced is then served to our guests. We also partner with the Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman and Narcisses Riviera to protect our local ecosystem.
