I’ve stayed at a few Fairmont properties and as always the Fairmont Grand Del Mar professes and delivers perfect customer service. It’s a beautiful property and the area, golf course are outstanding. Rooms are very clean. The only recommendation would be to update the rooms with a more modern appeal. Overall a great experience.

The facility is beautiful and service was very good..... the problem that needs attention are: 1. Lighting in the rooms is horrible. You cannot read adequately, putting on make up was very very difficult! The make up mirror had a very low yellow light. Please please update. 2. Cell phone reception was very bad 3. Internet connection was very bad These items would prevent me from staying at this property again which is sad to say because the property is beautiful. But win traveling for business, I need cell coverage and internet access and lighting in the room to read and apply make up.
My room was not in the best condition. There were numerous stains on the carpet and desk chair. The mirror light in the bathroom did not work. My main TV did not receive a signal for over a day. I killed 3 spiders in my room of the course of 2 days. Trim on the ceiling was hanging down. One of my pillow cases had a tear in it. It's hard to believe that you want to charge $9 for a coke from the mini bar when the facilities don't meet that level of exclusivity. I mentioned all of these things to the front desk upon check out and he simply said "Sorry about that". Then when he tried to print out my receipt, the printer was broken. I will not be returning any time soon.
This was a lovely stay, and I must say some of the best hotel food. I am in hotels for over 100 nights a year. The hotel Grand Del Mar is superb. The staff is more helpful than most Ritz that I have stayed at. The golf course and golf staff are tremendous. I am happy to highly recommend this property.
