Our Concierges' Top 15 Wineries

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn's concierge have chosen their Top 15 Wineries in the area for you to visit.

Gloria Ferrer Winery

This is the perfect place to start your day of wine tasting. Beautiful sparkling wines paired with cheese and charcuterie or even caviar, the property is amazingly beautiful, you will find it hard to leave for your next appointment.

Email reservations@gloriaferrer.com or call (707) 933-1986 if you have any questions or would like to make a reservation.

Domaine Carneros

My favorite local sparkling wine is “La Reve”, I believe it rivals some of the greatest Champagnes of France. The setting is like being at a French Chateau. Go early as it gets busy later in the day.

Reservations are required and are available daily beginning at 10am with the last reservation at 4:30pm. Please make reservations by calling (800) 716-2788 x 150

Talisman Wines

Scott and Marta Rich make Pinot Noir, period. If you love Pinot Noir, this is a must visit. They source only local, single vineyard wines made with love. Just a 10-minute drive from the hotel in the charming town of Glen Ellen.

Call or Text for reservations: (707) 721-1628

Repris Winery

One of the most beautiful vineyards in Sonoma, you will be looking down from Moon Mountain at the Sonoma Valley. Mountain fruit is incredible and very different from the valley floor. The journey up the hill is worth the effort. You will taste in the vineyard, making the journey in an ATV golf cart.  Plan to spend some time up there.

To request a reservation, please contact Hannah or Paul at (707) 931-7701 or reservations@repriswines.com

Winery Sixteen600

Owner Phil Coturri is the premier grower of organic grapes in California. If you love Rhone varietals and Zinfandel, and especially the Grateful Dead, you will feel right at home. The wines are honest and site specific. Plan to spend a few hours going through their incredible offerings, while listening to their large collection of vinyl records.

589 First Street, Sonoma, CA | (707) 721-1805

MacLaren Winery

Winemaker Steve Law was born in Scotland but trained in Southern France. His small production wines are clean and fresh. You will literally be tasting at his house, with him, and his beautiful chocolate Lab. The wines are reasonably priced, and the experience is priceless.

211 Adobe Canyon Road, Kenwood, CA 95452 | (707) 833-0101

Sojourn Cellars

If you like great Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, this is your place. Winemaker Erich Bradley sources from some of the best local vineyards. Mention that you are a Fairmont guest, and they will provide you with a complimentary cheese plate.

141 East Napa Street, Sonoma, CA 95476 | (707) 938-7212

B Wise Winery

Brion Wise provides one of the coolest tastings in Sonoma. They have a tasting lounge on Hwy 12 in Kenwood but that is not what I’m recommending. You must go up to the cave!! Brion and his wife Rhonda dug out a cave on their property and lived in it while their house was being built. After completion, they left a portion of the renovated cave to do private tastings. Imagine Bruce Wayne with a view of the valley. They make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but I go for the Big Reds, they are simply Hedonistic!!

Kamen Estates

Screenwriter Robert Kamen fell in love with Sonoma on a visit in the 90’s and never left. They have a tasting room on the square, but you want to go up to Roberts house and sit on the Eagles Nest, taste wine and cheese with sweeping views of the Mayacamas and the San Francisco Bay. The organically farmed wines are amazing, and the experience is unparalleled.

Please contact us at (707) 938-7292 or by email at info@kamenwines.com to schedule your visit.

Donum Estates

Some of the most highly regarded Pinot Noirs in California come from this Estate. Be sure to tour the Sculpture Garden and beautifully manicured grounds. Ask for Brandon to facilitate your tasting, he is a former Sommelier at the Fairmont. Visit their website by clicking here thedonumestate.com

Bedrock Wine Co.

Morgan Twain Peterson made his first wine when he was 4. Being the son of Ravenswood founder Joel Peterson, Morgan was bred to be a titan in the wine industry. Located in the historic Hooker House on the Sonoma square, the focus is old vine Rhone varietals and Zinfandel. Learn about the history of Sonoma and sip amazing wines.

To request an appointment, email us at tastings@bedrockwineco.com with your requested date, time, and number of people.

Benziger Family Winery

Head up towards Jack London State Park in Glen Ellen and take one of the best tours in the valley. Take a tractor ride through the vineyards and learn all about bio-dynamic farming from one of the nicest families in the industry.

Imagery Estate Winery

This is the “boutique” side of the Benziger Family experience. They offer a wide selection of small production wines from all over Northern California. Artists are selected yearly to create beautiful labels that incorporate the iconic Parthenon.

Ram’s Gate Winery

If you are looking for an amazing food and wine pairing, look no further.  Located at the entrance to the valley, Ram’s Gate features a unique culinary experience. If you are coming in from the City, this should be your first stop. There is no better way to welcome you to Sonoma.

Sonoma’s Best Wine Shop

This is not a winery; this is where the locals hang out and buy their wines. Half wine shop and half deli, Sonoma’s Best sources some of the best wines from Sonoma and around the world. Curator Todd Jolly hand selects every wine they sell, and he personally provides unique tastings daily and is always happy to make recommendations based on your unique palate. Grab a sandwich and a bottle out on their backyard patio. If you do not have time to visit every winery in Sonoma, just stop here. Ask for Todd.
