1902

The Boyes Hot Springs Hotel opens, inviting travelers from the San Francisco bay area to "take the waters" at California's premier hot mineral resort.

1927

The hotel was lost to a fire in 1923 but would emerge from the ashes in 1927, reopening as Sonoma Mission Inn. The Spanish Colonial Revival architecture featured red-tile roofs and a Salmon-hue stucco façade that is still present today.

1980

The hotel's iconic spa opens, allowing guests to harness the power of the natural hot springs with access to geothermally-heated mineral pools and inspired spa treatments.

2002

The resort became a member of the world-renowned Fairmont Hotels & Resorts family, joining legendary hotels such as Fairmont San Francisco, Fairmont Banff Springs and The Savoy in London.

2014

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa becomes a member of the Historic Hotels of America.
