Why you'll love it

A stay with a side of Canadian history

Charles Melville Hays, General Manager of the Grand Trunk Railway, played a key role inestablishing Canada’s renowned railway hotels, including Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. On his return journey from the United Kingdom to Canada, carrying furniture for the opening of the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa, Hays tragically died on April 15, 1912, in the sinking of the Titanic.
