Energy & CO2

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts embraces environmentally sustainable business practices and continues to seek new ways to proactively green our operations. In January 2008, we expanded our commitment to address climate change, striving to significantly reduce our greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions at all Fairmont properties worldwide by calculating our carbon footprint and setting a strong GHG emissions reduction target.

In order to continue to strengthen our environmental commitment and to address climate change, we established an Energy and Carbon Management Program, which provides each Fairmont property with the necessary tools to monitor, measure, and report GHG emissions.

The program provides Fairmont properties and colleagues with a framework to ensure information associated with GHG emitting activities can be tracked and monitored on a consistent and measurable basis. This information will be used to guide reporting against program progress, both at a global level, and at an individual property level.

As Fairmont expands its operations and includes new hotels within our portfolio, we ensure all new properties participate in our Energy and Carbon Management program.
