Winding under a forest canopy and through the tropical landscape, El Camaleón is unique, not just to Mexico but to the entire world of golf. Here, golf enthusiasts of all skill levels can experience the essence of a pristine and natural landscape, recognized by the Audubon Society.
Like the chameleon from which it takes ts name, the course offers up ever-changing challenges and alluring vistas: fairways lined with sand dunes and mangroves, distinctive hazards such as cenotes (subterranean caves) and crystal-clear lagoons, and greens perched on the edge of the Caribbean Sea.
Designed by golf great Greg Norman, the course is over 7,000 yards (6,400 meters) of pure pleasure.
Greg Norman Design Philosophy
Since 1987, the Greg Norman Golf Course Design Company has planned golf courses with a deep appreciation of the unique ecology of an area. Created with the goal of producing a tournament-quality golf course while maintaining an enjoyable sense of 'playability' for players of all skill levels, this course was designed to enhance the most desirable natural features of its tropical forest and seaside settings. The result is a golf course with a natural, stand-alone golfing experience unique to its own part of the world.

The Mayakoba Resort now features a state-of-the-art Jim McLean Golf School. The Mayakoba location is the first and only Jim McLean Golf Academy in Mexico.
The Jim McLean Golf School at Mayakoba features a two-bay SuperStation (with the ability to expand to three bays at a moment’s notice). Students will benefit from the latest technology in golf analysis computer software as well as highly personalized instruction programs crafted by certified Jim McLean Master Instructors.
