Bad experience
First of all, and to be able to balance my opinion, you have to know I’ve been staying at a large number of Fairmont hotels, as well as other luxury brands of Accor. I can easily tell my stay at Fairmont miramar was the worst of all, and we decided not to stay after the first night.
We arrived at 4:30 pm, were asked for my id and credit card. Welcome were unpersonalised, I had no information about the room, the hotel facilities, restaurant or breakfast time, gym, pool etc. I didn’t feel welcome.
The room wasn’t ready, because it has to be checked by the management. The receptionist kindly offer a drink voucher meanwhile. I was message at 4:50 to tell me it was ready.
The room was small, with dated furniture. Walls and curtains looked like the 80’ but not in a good way. The bathroom was incredibly small.
Was expecting a note or a courtesy in room, there were absolutely not.
During the night, we could experience that the bed wasn’t as comfy as usual at Fairmont, and the bed linen, with the sensation it was synthetic instead of coton.
We also could listen all the noise outside the room, and were suddenly awakened at 5 am by the TV which tuned on super loud.
In the morning, no tea facilities in room.
We went for a run and bike routine, the concierge were kind and offered us a bike easily and quickly (maybe it was the only good point of our stay).
After the shower, we went to the lobby bar for breakfast. Was 10h45. They kept us waiting for 10 min (there were nobody at the wait to be seated sign), watching plates to be served to other guests. Finally attended to be said we can get drinks only and have to wait half an hour for the brunch to start. Another disappointment. Back to the room, we decided this was too much for a $600 night rate. I went to reception desk and explained, and ask to check out at 12. The only receptionist which was at the reception desk didn’t seem to be sorry about, and told me I already had an upgrade. I couldn’t imagine they were still poorer room than the one we had at this Fairmont property.
So yes, it has been a bad experience and I wouldn’t recommend to stay there.
