Eighth Annual Gingerbread House Making Classes
Washington, D.C. Tuesday, October 01, 2013
Just in time for the holidays, The Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown’s Pastry Chef, Rebecca Clerget, is teaching an adult and a children’s Gingerbread Class. In the past, she has helped to construct the Gingerbread House at the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. This year, she was asked to create a replica of Southern Living Magazine’s Idea House from Blue Prints. This will be featured in their December issue and on display in the hotel’s lobby along with a gingerbread replica of an old time toy shoppe.
Adult’s Gingerbread Class
On Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m., Chef Clerget will share her gingerbread decorating secrets, while guests create their own holiday gingerbread house. The class includes all materials, instruction by Chef Kinsella along with holiday hors d’oeuvres and libations. At the end of the class, each adult will take home their own completed gingerbread house. However, for those who work in Washington, D.C., Fairmont we will deliver your completed Gingerbread House to your office the next day between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Adult Gingerbread Class is $85 per person.
Children’s Gingerbread Class
On Saturday, December 14th, beginning at 10:30 a.m., children will assemble and decorate their very own holiday Gingerbread House under the direction of Pastry Chef Rebecca Clerget. This is the seventh year that Fairmont Washington, D.C. Georgetown has held gingerbread house making classes. The class includes all materials, instruction and holiday refreshments for children. At the end of the class, each child will take home a completed Gingerbread House. Children’s Gingerbread class is $50 per child, adults may accompany children at no cost and space is limited.
Guests will enjoy viewing Fairmont’s own Gingerbread House that will be on display in the hotel’s lobby during the holiday season.
