Brief two night stay with the family. The hotel is centrally located and offers great views of some of the cities nicer sights. The hotel was clean and the staff was courteous and professional. The facilities were nice enough although the pool area ran out of towels during our stay and we were left to our own devices to find an alternative. Were we felt the hotel really let down was the food and beverage offerings. Priced in the high end fine dining range the menu offered standard if uninventive fare, designed to please the masses but hardly reflective of the prices charged. Cocktail and wine list followed suit, good but not great cocktails and a wine list with some heavy hitters for the expense account clientele but sorely lacking in local offerings or anything natural. We would definitely stay again as we felt the accommodations were great but will continue to eat and drink elsewhere.
Loved the location and the amazing building. Felt like staying at a Disney World Castle. Staff was always attentive and friendly.
Overall good atmosphere and kind people

Staff were professional, friendly and helpful. Location was perfect. Rooms were comfortable albeit a bit dated. Pillows were comfortable, bed was okay. Bathroom amenities were ok but not great.
Historic features add to the charm. Not sure if Fairmont has any control over the time in which the gate to access the Canal pathway on the west side of the building opens, but it would be good if it opened earlier (6:00 AM) for running/walking.
We had an excellent stay. The hotel is beautiful and I was impressed at how well it's been maintained considering it's 100 years old. Very ornate. Service was excellent and our one meal was quite good if a bit expensive.
I booked our original room on Expedia. Check in was simple and quick. Unfortunately, our neighbors were extremely loud and we asked to change rooms and extend our stay an additional night. This took a bit longer to accomplish and we needed to upgrade our room. It was well worth the extra cost. The staff is very efficient and pleasant. The property is gorgeous.
We enjoyed our stay mainly due to location as well as the break fast option. Two out of the three mornings for the buffet food was not warm. The last day it was warm. The server was top notch! The room was not comfortable lots of room but uncomfortable furniture and small tv for size of room. I upgraded rooms and our view was a shingled roof top. I was disappointed. Loud floor with doors slamming. Should invest in glides for doors. Toilets loud rocking when sitting down. It definitely needs some tlc. Sad no use of fridge as it was stocked with drinks that cost extra. No coffee options in room. 4 people stay and offered two free waters. We loved Ottawa!
LOCATION AND BUILDING Nice heritage building hotel. Great location. Unfortunately, I did not see anything that much luxurious about the hotel. I would give the building and location a 10/10 SERVICE The service was perhaps the most luxurious thing about the hotel. The desk staff, concierge and doormen were fabulous. I would give the staff a 10/10 ROOMS -The Le Labo - Rose 31 soaps were great. I enjoyed the toiletries but the rooms themselves were not luxurious. They were simply standard hotel fare. - The Exhaust fan in the bathroom appeared overwhelmed so the mirrors were foggy each and every morning after a shower. That was inconvenient. -The comforter was great especially because they had the Canadian flag tag. ( Made in Canada). -Not sure why there was no coffee ( center) table in the living area. -There was also no luggage rack in the room. - WIFI was spotty at best. I had to log in quite a few times even while in the room. That was frustrating - Checkout options were unnecessarily complicated. I had to text the front desk who checked out for me. I wouldn't have minded being able to see my charges on the TV screen or an invoice slipped under my door on the morning of checkout. I would give the rooms a 5/10. MEALS Room service options options were standard. For the price of the rooms and the price of the breakfast buffet... ($39.00).. you would think the hotel would be able to offer a complimentary breakfast. (Less pricey hotels offer a complimentary breakfast especially when the breakfast menu at the Fairmont was pretty much lackluster). The sausages were overcooked and hard each and every time. The bacon was largely dry and overcooked and the Eggs Benedict Hollandaise sauce was not particularly tasty. I would give the food 3/10 ??? Would I return...Quite possibly but I would like to stay at the Westin next door and make that future decision. Thanks
